About Kirsten Curtis

I am an internationally experienced Senior Social Worker and Child and Family Specialist, working with children, parents and families navigating complex and high-conflict family matters, relationship difficulties, family restructuring, reunification and significant family transitions.

My work has a particular focus on reunification, relationship reconstruction, family transition and reintegration, parent–child bonding and relationship intervention, parenting coordination, supervised contact, interactional analysis, parenting plans, specialist assessment and professional consultation.

I hold an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation from the University of Oxford. I also completed postgraduate studies in Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Cambridge and lectured at the University of Pretoria for many years. My professional experience extends across South Africa and internationally.

My work is grounded in a child-centred and evidence-informed approach. I consider each child within the context of their relationships, development and wider family system, recognising that meaningful change requires more than simply resolving an immediate dispute.

I provide independent professional interventions and can work alongside attorneys, advocates, Family Advocates, social workers, psychologists, schools and other professionals involved in complex child and family matters.

Senior-Level, Direct Professional Involvement

I personally undertake the professional work within my practice. Clients and referring professionals work directly with me throughout the assessment, intervention and professional consultation process, providing continuity, senior-level expertise and professional accountability.

My Professional Approach

My approach is child-centred, evidence-informed and professionally independent. I tailor interventions to the circumstances of each child and family rather than following a predetermined outcome.

Depending on the matter, my work may involve assessment, structured intervention, observation, supervised contact, interactional analysis, parenting coordination, parenting plans, transition planning, reunification or relationship reconstruction.
